On 11th May, 2018, Research Institute for Environmental Economics and Management (RIEEM) hosted a workshop entitled Kassel-Waseda RIEEM Workshop at Waseda University,
The workshop started with opening remark by the director of RIEEM, Professor Toshi H. Arimura (Waseda University).
Afterwards, Professor Arimura presented his research paper entitled “Seemingly unrelated intervention: environmental management systems at workplaces for energy conservation behavior at home” which is the joint research with Dr. Mari Sakudo (Development Bank of Japan, Waseda University, Japan Research Institute) and Professor Hajime Katayama (Waseda University). Their study examined how environmental management systems affects household energy conservation controlling fot possible endogeneity.
Following lunch break, Ms Elke Groh (Ph.D. student at University of Kassel) introduced the research project entitled “The relevance of non-state actors for individual climate protectin activities and climate policy: a theoretical, experimental, and empirical analysis” as well as possible research topic for the joint research with RIEEM, Waseda Univetsity.
After lunch break, Professor Arimura talked about “Possible collaboration between Kassel and Waseda.” Presenters and participants actively discussed which topics we are going to collaborate as well as its research schedule.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks by Professor Arimura and Professor Andreas Ziegler (University of Kassel). We had 15 participants including Faculty member of Waseda University, RIEEM researcher, graduate students and our research collaborator from Development Bank of Japan.
